Art in shop windows, Kirkcaldy Fife.
crack
'crack'
a narrow opening, a line of division where something is broken but has not come completely apart, a tiny crack, a way in or
a way out.
I often work with found
objects and existing features and work with these to create something new.
For this
project a broken shop window in kirkcaldy High Street and an image of a bird was the starting point.
The abstract image on the front window of the shop is a combination of a drawing of the broken
window and a drawing of a bird's imprint left on another window, both which were finely detailed and quite beautiful.
In each instance one sudden explosive act had left a vivid mark on the glass surface.
At first glance the shop looks not that dissimiliar from other shop fronts in the street. I
worked with a local sign company who design and install vinyl signs and logos for advertising businesses in the area.
The new name above the shop along with the poetic text and imagery create another identity for the empty shop
and with the positioning of the mirrored ball hints at another explosive act about to happen or has already occurred.
